ITT: People act smug about Gen-Z when in fact 54% of them voted Harris… And OLDER WHITE MEN were Trump’s biggest voting block once again.

…and that’s a repeating pattern for Republicans. Stop letting old white men off the hook just because it’s more “expected” for them to be shit.

What’s more blaming young people is just a way to get MILLENNIALS to BECOME rightwing/old in their opinions.

Gen-Z are fine they’re just out there with no idea, trying shit. Like every generation has to in order to find themselves.

I remember when, to find myself, I needed to look at and then step into a bear trap.

Old White men are stupid and at fault, so is some large proportion of Gen Z, and probably others. If they have regret, fuck all of them. Next time do your homework, this was all knowable in advance. Welcome to the “school of hard knocks” (hurr durr), better known in 2026 as the school of FAFO.

The fact that only 54% voted for Harris is the reason why Gen-Z gets so much hate.

Everybody expects old white men to vote Conservative. Meanwhile Gen-Z was born into the era of ubiquitous internet access. They’ve had access to the entire world’s knowledge from the very moment they learned to read. So what’s their excuse? They didn’t have to just blindly follow whatever they told you to believe on the TV and in the newspaper, they’ve had access to cold, hard facts from the very beginning.

Therefore it is mind-blowing to me that a whopping forty six percent of them could manage to be this ignorant and dumb, when all they gotta do is pull out their always-online pocket computer and read to easily figure out that MAGA is completely and utterly full of shit.

Bottom line is that old white men at least had an excuse for ignorance at one point. Gen-Z never did. And that’s why they deserve the most criticism out of any voting-age generation IMO.

Oh we’re just going to pretend the children should have been the parents? The youngest and most vulnerable to manipuation should have been the adults in the room.

You’re doing the EXACT thing I complained about.

Bottom line is that old white men at least had an excuse for ignorance at one point. Gen-Z never did. And that’s why they deserve the most criticism out of any voting-age generation IMO.

You simply haven’t made the case. Sorry, your argument is that more experience = a good excuse for ignorance? That first time voters should be the most expert… And that Internet access for young people, didn’t also subject them to one of the biggest online propaganda campaigns ever seen.

Did you just not notice how memes were used in the Trump campaigns?.. And then this whole idea that millennials and older just don’t have Internet access? WTF is wrong with you? How out of touch with reality are you?

STOP EXCUSING OLD WHITE MEN, UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE MORE OLD WHITE MEN IN CHARGE.

        …it’s not that difficult.

You’re 100% right. I never said they don’t have an excuse now, all I said is that they once did. I carefully worded my sentence for a reason.

Meanwhile Gen-Z never had an excuse for ignorance. That’s my point.

First time inexperienced voters, the young not known for taking life seriously or for having ever seen the reprocussions of their votes… Have no excuses? Really?

You’re still not making sense. You’re saying young people aren’t politically vulnerable, niave, or able to be manipulated when OF COURSE THEY ARE!

Like I said the first time, the pretense is:

That first time voters should be the most expert… And that Internet access for young people, didn’t also subject them to one of the biggest online propaganda campaigns ever seen.

Gen Z should regret their vote just based warfare. Let me explain exactly how this affects them specifically.

Trump promised no more wars then proceeds to abduct the president of Venezuela, attack Iran without giving a reason and then constantly talk about taking over countries. You think the acts of war stop with Iran?

The newly renamed Department of War has a finite amount of service people available for wars. Gen Z you are first in line to be drafted when more people are needed.

Your personal legacy will be struggling financially in a s@&t economy until you are required to put your life on the line for a government who sees you as a disposable resource for a war that could have been entirely avoided. That’s just my personal fear though. Maybe they aren’t worried about that.

The center is being squeezed by people suffering from internet brain rot on either side pushing for failed systems of the past. You’re getting a taste of why fascism sucks. Do you need to actually experience why socialism sucks for yourself rather than just reading a history book?

The entire point of a campaign is to get votes…

2020 people held their noses and voted Biden, and the people running that geriatric puppet show used it to latch onto power and do whatever the fuck they want.

Jamie Harrison only knows how to take bribes from the wealthy, that’s why he lost to Lindsey Graham despite breaking fundraising efforts. As DNC chair from 2021 to 2025, he did what everyone expected him to do who knew who he was.

He raised a shit ton of money and lost an election because of not caring about anything else.

The real shame is uninformed people not understanding the DNC is just whatever the chair wants it to be, and when the chair changes you judge the organization by the current chair, not the one who fucked up and got fired

      socialist tyranny of health care

Lot of Gen Z is under 26, which means they can be under their parents healthcare. Have a coworker that’s in that and until my job he didn’t realize healthcare costs for insurance that comes out of paychecks. Like I told him, save up while he can be under his parents insurance.

But anyone older than, at this moment, being born after 10/18/2000 is now falling into the insurance pile.

Sucks… but this is the choice the country made.

It’s not about the kids tho…

The same decline appears outside the United States. Horvath told senators that across roughly 80 countries, academic performance drops after digital technology becomes widely embedded in classrooms. The timing alone raises serious questions about how learning environments affect cognitive development.

It’s about how instead of making them think, we taught them to just fucking Google shit and believe what it says.

“Oregon Trail generation” who grew up using computers but still having to learn legacy methods was the sweet spot, and there’s absolutely nothing stopping us from returning to that.

Absolutely none of us use the Dewey Decimal system, but having to go to libraries and physically walk around pulling cards and finding books built critical thinking.

Typing in “Harry Potter” on a computer and getting a PDF doesn’t build any skills.

The human brains biggest strength is offloading and being lazy. If the system thinks it doesn’t need skills because they can be offloaded, it just won’t learn them. Then at 22-23 when it’s harder to learn those skills, gen z is finding out they actually need them.

They can be helped, but what’s more important is making sure all those little kids right now start getting real educations again.

          No.

This may shock you but dumb people have become parents thru all of human history.

We corrected that as a society by creating an education system, shockingly recently in America. I have an uncle who “went to school” in a one room schoolhouse with an outhouse. There was one other student withing 4 years of his age. He’s not dumb, but he’s always been uneducated. A real education and he could have done anything he wanted.

We fixed it as a society and then stopped caring about education as society because for some reason people thought IQ would just magically always increase naturally, and prior gains weren’t just getting everyone on the same level of education.

Stop acting like a conservative and pretending the next generation is only the responsibility of their parents.

The next generation of society is everyone’s problem, so it’s society’s job to educate them.

yea, everyone wants to be able to tell everyone else how to raise their kids, but unfortunately that’s not how the world works. if some kid comes home and says the history teacher told them the civil war was about ending slavery, and the parents say that’s all lies, it was about the north victimizing the south, then do you honestly think that kid is going to listen to the teacher (society) over their parents?

yes, public education should be a thing, is important, etc.

but despite all this public education, if parents are negating it at every turn, then what that means is that dumb kids come from dumb parents. yes, dumb kids come from smart parents too, thanks to society telling them they need to be on instagram 20 hours a day.

you can call me maga if that makes you feel like you’ve hurt my feelings, but i assure you, i don’t care what you think. parents have a bigger role in raising kids than society ever has, and ever will. i’m not claiming whether that’s good or bad either way, just that it’s how it is. we do absolutely need high quality public education rooted in facts and science.

i work at a community college which includes the county’s “early college” which is pretty much 9th-12th grade high school age kids who qualified to take AA/AS courses for higher ed credit at the same time as their high school curriculum. what i see is pretty much it’s not the kids that are the problem. for the most part, dumb kids are the result of dumb parents, which there are a lot of in my redneck mountain town. and, surprise, dumb parents have a lot more kids than smart parents.

yea, gen z may be dumb, but it’s not gen z that made them that way

edit: i want to add, there’s nothing inherently wrong with a lack of intelligence. some of the best people i’ve ever known are not intellectuals. it’s character that makes people worthwhile. empathy. how you treat people who can’t do anything for you. if you’re accepting of people regardless of whether they hold the same beliefs, values, religion, have the same skin color, and everything else, then i would choose to be around you instead of the dickhead who’s the smartest person in the room. fuck that guy

it’s telling that these fucking dickheads are trying, desperately, to paint empathy as some kind of flaw or weakness. empathy is how the human species survived past the stone age

The youth won’t vote for the lesser evil, or foe things to stay the same instead of getting worse…

But they absolutely vote for improvement.

Them not voting for Obama the second time, Hillary, Biden, or Kamala doesn’t mean they won’t vote.

Stop acting like the fucking candidate isn’t important, it’s lit the most important thing about an election

In 2028 a neoliberal won’t get shoved down our throats again, the most recent example of how that works out is 08 Obama. Regardless of how he was in office, the 08 election everyone believed he was going to bring good change.

        Like, it’s basic fucking psychology/sociology…

25 and under want change, they’re wired for it, it’s the entire reason change happens. All the way back to “why don’t we just throw the pointy stick?”

Zoomers have proven they can be just as stupid and gullible as the older generations that have allowed this to happen. I won’t hold my breath for them to do the consistently right choice when voting as a block. Best I’d hope for is them to get upset enough to go against their initially wrong choice once in a while if they ever bother to vote again.

Unmentioned by the article: only 1/3rd of Gen Z voted Trump.

More than a third (35%) of Gen Z who voted for Trump in 2024 now regret their vote, compared to 24% of millennials, 16% of Gen X, and 8% of baby boomers.

It sounds like it’s a lot better for over 1/3rd to regret their vote than less than 1/10th, yeah? Thinking 0% will start voting for Democrats after regretting their vote is basically delusional. Even just not voting in the future is making it easier for Democrats to win.

Oh. You mean voting for something because “it’s funny” has consequences? Fuck off. I like so much about Gen Z, but this is one of the things I despise.

I must ask, what’s to like? Because many of this internet influencer age come off as very insufferable.

My niece is 23. She’s working as a welder because she saw how blue collar jobs are looked down on by her peers. I like the “fuck you” attitude.

I dislike the “here I am, look at me” mentality.
