It’s hard to feel sympathy for Trump voters in general, but certainly there are some specific Trump voters who might deserve sympathy.

Just as some people are raised racist, homophobic, etc. but change their tune once they actually meet some POC, LGBT people, etc., there will be people out there who have just absorbed general vibes of “Republicans = good economy, Democrats = bad economy” from everyone in their lives and never experienced anything that made them question it. Some people are well-intentioned, but… really dumb and oblivious.

Love Colbert, amazing guy. But he is mistaken… Elon Musk hacked the election in key states for Trump.

I am not an American and I know my opinion is worthless but Elon Musk is a giant piece of shit that should be (word that starts with “exe” and ends with a very nice “cuted”)

My guy, you’re giving Elon way too much credit and the United States citizens not enough.

Donald Trump is the president we deserve and definitely the president we voted in. Un-fucking-fortunately.

A vote is a vote is a vote.

Winning elections is all that matters.

I don’t care if someone backs my candidate because they look like the voter’s crush, just as long as they vote the right way.

Except we were seeing the exact same sentiments from trump voters in 2018.

Trump voters are literally the scorpion in that stupid parabale where everyone drowns.

They voted Republican because they were shamed and insulted by the right. They desire to be put in their place by strong individuals. This is the key yall are missing. We need to prove strength to them not accept them.

Absolutely. I see this mentality “they never care until it happens to them” a lot, and I get it and was guilty of it myself, but an effective political movement needs to be able to welcome people regardless of background.

We need justice to heal. If we don’t get justice for these last ten years the good parts of this country will never trust it again. Would you rather republicans feel less offended or would you rather those that actually make up the bulk of this countries economy feel as if their time on this planet is useful? I’m tired of my side throwing me out like fucking trash because an ugly ogre of a right winger is crying because vaccines are expected of them and they don’t wanna. I’m tired of them destroying everything good that we do because they believe bullshit.

Quit punishing good people because some fucking dumb fucks are crying.

In these threads we’re not really speaking to those people who have e seen the light though. We are collectively mourning what has been lost, and “we told you so” is a somewhat satisfying outlet.

The analogy is a little too nice though, maybe. It’d be more accurate to say they placed an order for “the turd soup that kills brown people, Muslims, and trans people, when I eat it” – and when they noticed their targets weren’t totally annihilated, they asked for a 2nd helping.

The restaurant had turd soup and stale bread. The people who like bread saw it was stale so they left, and everyone remaining ordered the turd soup.

Some people didn’t care about turd soup in restaurants because the have the third option to cook for themselves. That’s one of the reasons, the rest still has to eat turd soup.

It’s like you don’t understand how elections work.

The person who wins the election is in charge.

Unless you are rich enough to go hide out off the grid, you’re eating the turd soup.

What I’m fucking sick of is having to eat this turd soup even though I don’t even live in that shithole country. If the U.S. must leak their turd soup all over the world, then the rest of the world should get to vote as well.

Frederick Douglas was an escaped slave who fought for Abolition.

Back in 1860 he had a choice. He could back the Abolition candidate, who was almost certain to lose, or to back Abe Lincoln. Lincoln had said that saving the Union was more important then ending slavery.

Douglas decided it was smarter to help Lincoln win and get a seat at the table, than to lose and be shut out.

Did I mention that Douglas had actually been a slave?
