Trump is the worst it’s been, but I can’t remember a time when things were good. It’s been one crisis to the next.

I think there’s been maybe a 5 year period where the US wasn’t in a major conflict, and even then we were bombing random countries. After 08 the economy has basically always felt on the brink of collapse. Wages stagnate, housing is unaffordable, and basically every “ladder” to a better life it gone. Sprinkle in the impending climate collapse and yeah that’s been basically life.

It’s disingenuous to act like anything was even okay before Trump. He’s just the final stage of a decades long collapse

We were generally pretty smart about what we were doing. Even Iraq, I think the idea was to overthrow a brutal dictator (we all agree he was, right?) and liberate a country in the middle east that would be friendly and allow us to be less dependent on Israel and the Saudis.

I protested against that war, but it was certainly a hell of a lot smarter than threatening Greenland or Mexico.

Despite all the memes, compared to the average person, W was reasonably smart. Maybe not on the scale of presidents. And evil or not, the people in his cabinet were pretty smart. Dick Cheney might have been evil, but he wasn’t a fucking idiot.

We’ve had our issues and we’ve had our strengths, but we’ve never been this fucking dumb on a federal level. We’re literally taking advice from Putin.

This is the first time we’ve had a president who doesn’t realize that he’s in the same boat as the rest of us. Might have a better cabin on that boat, but if he sinks it… and Putin is whispering in his ear that it’d be fun to sink the boat.

I went to a concert last night and it was surreal. We’re just going to sit here and let the train hit us and the world. Mass delusion.

It’s not accurate, there’s not enough dead brown people and guns and the water’s not covered in oil and there’s not a giant yacht zooming in the other direction, away from this disaster.

Wait I think I know this boat. I am pretty sure it is a sunk boat in miami that was there for a really long time. A lot of people used to go canoe over to it and take pictures.

Kind of like all the people who comment on the state of the world but never really do anything about it.

there was a similar situation near Beaufort SC where a decently large catamaran from the 80s was anchored out in the bay for years.

old empty boat. big enough for a large galley and other rooms

i hopped up on it in the daytime a few times. it was crazy

Yup. I’ve been there. There was an older nastier one in Palm Beach too. But not nearly the tourist trap as this one

That captain is sleeping. No, don’t wake him up! That’s when he messes up the least.

You ever been just sitting in the living room watching TV with your friends/family and look around and notice we’re all just staring at screens like zombies? Just day after day of staring at screens, thinking you’re doing something but you’re not really doing anything? TVs, phones, tablets, monitors. Just screen after screen after screen…

    That’s what they want.

speak for yourself, I’m hoarding all the data I can store for the inevitable collapse of the internet.

reminds me, I need to buy more bluray discs.
