World News@lemmy.world•Macron urges Europe to start acting like world powerEnglish
42·2 days agoIt’s less about being a power. The British Empire was “A Power”. The US is “A Power”. Russia has been “A Power” and wants people to think it still is. China is “A Power”.
Unless you use it to the benefit of the people, it’s just posturing.
If the victims (ourselves included, no matter your nationality) never do anything to fix their own situation, no one else is going to do it for them. There is no white knight coming for you, sitting on your ass and waiting for someone else to fix everything for you is how fascism takes hold.
Well since people keep not showing up, focusing on a single election, and voting (or not) based on their “principles” (re: ego), it’s not.
Considering alternatives require all those things (and usually more), I don’t see anything else working any better though.
You absolutely can. Its just you actually have to show up first, and not focus on a single election, and vote pragmatically instead of with “principle”.
Why would you ask that? Is something wrong? Should I be nervous? What should I be nervous about? I need answers people!

One can legitimately criticize another while still having vices of their own. This does not diminish the criticism, only lack of truth would do that.
I have plenty of personal issues I need to work on… that doesn’t mean I have no right to criticize others for their issues. Especially if they refuse to even acknowledge them, much less work to overcome them.
It affects value judgments such as “We’re better than you because…” but those are pointless and petty statements, and don’t deserve critical thought anyways.

5·21 days agoConsidering how close both 2016 and 2024 were, don’t be so sure.
If that’s the case, then it’s clearly not clear.
Anywhere there is snow there is people too negligent to clean it off properly.
“Entire windshield” is a very generous description. There’s still quite a bit of snow that seems to mostly have been pushed around by the wiper blades.
To make a pb & j from scratch, first you must create the universe.
