Is the guy in the main picture adempting to break the glass with his fist? That doesn’t sound like a brilliant move.

One Shop in Frankfurt after the protest officially ended.

Nothing turned violent, this is a giant nothing-burger.

They set up all these crazy wooden barricades down Kö in Düsseldorf and it was just a normal demonstration in the end.

And even if it hadn’t been, what? Was my heart supposed to bleed for some supermarket chain? In the words of Emma Goldman, from “Anarchism and Other Essays”:

“Ask for work. If they don’t give you work, ask for bread. If they do not give you work or bread, then take bread.”

“Other people’s livelihoods (it’s rarely chains, people go for less protected private shops on the streets instead of large buildings) is something I’m ready to sacrifice”

Don’t trip by your own edginess

EDIT: No Lemmy, domestic terrorism is bad no matter how hard you downvote this. If you want to hurt someone, hurt the rich, the corporations, governments, not my mom running a street shop making less € than programmers. I’m amazed how well they managed to make people fight each other and y’all are defending it. Idiots.

I thought they give you bread in Germany.

Someone else’s shop was a sacrifice you were willing to make.

What is their solution for bringing down the cost of living? Remember Hitler rose to power because the Democratic Weimar Republic couldn’t control inflation.

And Nazi Germany kept costs down through slave labor: Slavs, Pols, Jews, etc. But I don’t know where I was going with that, except it’s not a good reflection.

Their plan is to violently quash protests under false pretense after demonizing protesters, and to continue to let the oligarchy seize control, while they institute total information awareness, age controls allowing them to connect every person to everything they have said or done or looked at online, and along with all other information sources, including from data brokers, to create secret social scores on us to determine everything about our lives with no way of challenging them, or knowing of it for sure.

      It’s not great.

They were paying huge war repetitions after WWI. So in a way, if they weren’t forced to do so, WWII wouldn’t probably happen because people would simply not vote for him.

But things were completely different, back then they had hyper inflation.

Reparations wasn’t the only reason and the price of payment was actually brought down to a more generous level. I would argue that what actually caused the proverbial fire is when the United States, the one that was actually investing and providing credit to Weimar Germany in order for the latter to pay the reparations, experienced Great Depression. With the US bankrupt, Weimar Germany has had no other way to pay back the reparations even if it’s reduced to a more reasonable level. And even with that, the bad genie is out of the lamp because of built up resentment by the Germans as perceived national humiliation, and the rest is history.

I can somewhat see something similar happening again. The current German government is too chicken to look inward towards more European investment to decouple from the US, but instead is still too beholden to Washington.

Yes, but the AfD is gaining popularity. People might be fooled into thinking the AfD has a solution to the high cost of living.

Unfortunately in times like these, populist parties gain traction. But this is not only on the times but also on the CDU/CSU who didn’t really prepare Germany for the digital age.

He claimed control because the then CDU+SPD were sure they could control him.

Basically same same with today’s CDU, nothing really changed, apart from the Führers gender.

Why are you assuming Weidel will be the one? I’d venture a guess that she’s not “compatible” enough with family values of the AFD because of her homosexuality. Höcke is still there and he’s as fanatic and a straight male.

        But hey, leopard, face.

who are you talking about if not merkel?

Alice Weidel, current leader of the German nazi party. A lesbian, married to an immigrant from Sri Lanka, who has 2 kids she adopted, leading a party that is against gay marriage, immigration and same sex couples raising children and the stupid nazis don’t see any issue with that and still vote for her. Also she is living in Switzerland, so she won’t be affected by her own policies.

It’s kind of surreal. Like Kathleen “Put a chick in it and make her gay” Kennedy is running a remake of the third reich.

Never said the CDU had a Führer. The CDU just enabled the nsdap.

So no, I’m not talking about Merkel. I’m talking about the nsdap’s equivalent. Which is not the cdu .
