But just don’t mention that they are tourists on the Internet. Suddenly you are a huge enraged asshole who should immediately move the boonies if you don’t like it when people have zero spatial awareness.
I’ve seen more than a couple of times where anyone criticizing tourists in any way will be told they should be grateful for tourists boosting their economy and if they don’t like them they should move somewhere else. Guessing the downvotes come from people who would make those kinds of arguments.
That’s not even too bad, the amount of times I have rolled up to 2 stoped cars going opposite directions in a neighborhood that stopped for a chat blocking up the whole road is insane. Stop behind for 10 seconds to be kind, then start laying on the horn. Now I’m getting 2 middle fingers like I’m the dickhead 🤬
I just roll my cart at them at sustained speed and utter a strong yet non-aggressive “EXCUSE ME”. It works. It helps that I’m a man with a strong voice.
A total stranger in NYC decided to help us out when I was pushing my husband’s wheelchair across the street towards the ubiquitous clump of ramp-standers on the sidewalk. They were ignoring my polite “Excuse me” but when he bellowed “WATCH YER BACK!” they parted like the sea before Moses. It wasn’t just his volume or accent, suddenly it was about THEM and their safety! I’ve used it ever since, and it never fails. I make no visible attempt to stop or slow (while of course being alert for helpless old people or small children) and use plenty of volume and urgency because, after all, I’m warning them of danger.
People who decide to stop with their grocery cart in the middle of a choke point at the grocery store and are completely unaware of their soundings.
You can’t just go around calling out my wife like that.
There was a whole fight at the store near me with someone used bear spray and sent all sorts of people to the hospital over that
lotsa people who are either entitled, have no spatial awareness, or both.
especially the ones on thier phones. or they get mad if you try to move thier cart out of the way to get something in the same section they are.

What? Tourists are generally disliked, even if they dont block paths, no?

And I do the accent. It’s part of the magic.
Congratulations on learning the incantation for a new magic spell!
My inner fantasy is to yell “BEEP BEEP, MOTHERFUCKER!” and commit to a collision course with their cart.
But in my area it’s mostly just old people who are doing their best.
“Hi Betty, how are yooou?! Lets stand here and blab for five minutes, while everyone has to scoot akwardly around us.”
I call them “bonus obstacles” and see how far I can ram their cart
(In my mind)
