I wish that was the case, I am starting to see it sneak in more and more over there as well. It’s even more awkward, as they will pre-add a 10-15% tip and then you have to ask for it to be removed. Can’t we just pay people a living wage and end tipping all together? Yes, at least in the US a whole lot of restaurants will fail, but they should. Businesses that can’t pay people what they deserve need to go the way of the dodo.

I mean yes? Certainly I can put another 1000+ hours into a game from 10 years ago or 15 years ago, but people aren’t playing those games any longer, and those who do in a team setting are so far beyond anything a casual player can do it’s not even close to being remotely fun. LAN parties were amazing, but they existed because most of us didn’t have incredibly fast internet and we wanted to show off the PCs that we had cobbled together.
These days it’s easy to fire up Discord or whatever chat you want to use, play a new game with your friends that looks great, that plays well (enough), and then you can buy a new game. I’d rather play Doom Dark Ages over the original Doom. Or to go to the 10-15 years ago metric, I would much rather play Doom Dark Ages over Doom 3. But hey, when Doom 3 came out, this exact same conversation was happening, because Doom 3 wasn’t easy to run.
Sure, they do virtual credit cards, but I haven’t seen credit card companies that do it quite like Privacy does. It’s super simple to make individual cards for different ‘bills’, then pause them or get rid of the card as needed. And you don’t even need to use your actual name or information on these virtual cards, so the merchant doesn’t get your information.
Yeah, one time use card is great for things like this. And since you can use any zip code or any information, you can avoid certain additional costs as well.
Privacy.com’s virtual credit cards are pretty great for this. Sign up, pause or one time for the card, and then you don’t have to worry about it. I am sure there are other websites that offer similar services.
What I have seen, it’s basically the right wing group of the Swiss government trying to pull a soft ‘Brexit’, if they have a population cap, essentially it ends free movement, so they would effectively be able to pull out of EU agreements. It’s an insane move that I am glad to see has failed.
I mean it’s NY Post, it’s a rag reporting outlet that uses outrage to get clicks because they don’t actually have any journalists. But it seems to work, seeing how many comments even on here it has generated.
