I don’t think I’ve had one moment in my life where I wanted a photo of myself

I tend to think this, but then I always realize I’ll look even worse in 20 years so I will have wished I had a photo of myself!!

I installed DailyYou and take a daily photo of myself these days. I think it can be fun to scroll through different days. Basically my week 😐😐😐😐☺️☺️🥲

Does anyone else take semi-regular selfies to share with no one? It always stuck with me how my mother said she wished she took more photos of herself. Someday I may appreciate it.

Have someone else take a pic when you’re not paying attention. Posted this a couple of months ago:

Those pics are not what I see in the mirror, even at my best, nor when I take a selfie or pose for someone else. (I also don’t see how much white has crept into my hair.) My wife often catches pics that make me think, “Well shit. Not bad.” Posed? “Fuck I look stupid.”

I’ve practically never taken pictures of myself, but last year I needed one for my job. And fuck me sideways, I stood there for more than an hour, taking hundreds of pictures.

Not because of lighting or a bad angle or whatever, but because I’d look into the camera thinking I’m completely overdoing it with smiling and then I look at the photo and it’s the grumpiest motherfucker ever documented. Genuinely had me doubting, if I’ve been smiling wrong all my life.

Only selfies I’ve taken in the last … what, 5 years? were for bodyfat tracking purposes (it’s trending upwards, unfortunately). And a dick pick because why not - at least I’m confident about that part of my body.

My looks didn’t peak until my 40s, and early 50s ain’t so bad. Finally seeing some aging I can no longer deny. But I still got factory original teeth and hair!
