I love the fact that his lawsuit is also highlighting the fact of how unfair it is for individuals to have to fight corporations which Republicans don’t give a shit about.
For Trump to sit during the deposition, but who from BBC has to attend? Hired lawyers.
Same thing for if Walmart were sued or Amazon. Would the CEO need to sit during the court proceedings as well? Nah, they are shielded. Just the person using a giant corporation.
Well, he doesn’t have to be deposed, but then he doesn’t have to continue with a frivolous lawsuit intended to attempt to intimidate foreign press.
Lots of things he could do … stop committing war crimes, stop stealing from USA citizens by front-running stocks, stop breaching the former Constitution, stop voter interference, stop using his private militia to murder people, … you get the idea.
You say it’s unfair, and it might be, but the fact is that an individual is individually suing a corporation where he’s personally claiming damages. This isn’t because of corporate personhood, it’s because it’s one person versus an organization; he’s literally going after the entire BBC apparatus, not just one dude.
I really hate that that comment is getting upvoted.
People love to hate on things a lot more than they like to understand how things actually work.
To make your point more explicit, CEOs often don’t have to sit for depositions because they legitimately aren’t the people who know the facts the cases turn on. When the CEOs are the right ones to talk to, courts don’t hesitate to make them show up.
Don’t get me wrong, I hate big corporations plenty. Don’t get me started about Meta or Microsoft. But can we please hate them for actually good reasons instead of making reasons to hate them up?
Trump is suing for $10bn, alleging massive financial, reputational damage caused by this thing no-one watched. It is the BBC’s right to question him on this.

The bbc is the defendant they don’t have to be deposed. But if someone were to speak it would be ceo cfo clo.
The relevant journalists and editors from the BBC would have had to sit for deposition as well

“Corporations are people”.
In the USA, maybe that legal fiction has become reality, but it doesn’t apply everywhere else.
