Most people don’t seem to know what ‘third world’ actually mean. Back in the days of the cold war, the ‘first world’ was the US and its allies (NATO), the ‘second world’ was the USSR and its allies (Warsaw Pact), and the ‘third world’ was every other bugger. At that time, the third world was mostly economically poor and pre-industrialized countries.
So, perhaps it’s time to revive the original meaning, and have all of Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand (and anyone else who wants to join us - Africa, South America, you guys in?) proclaim loud and proud that we are all third world countries!
What’s been taking them so long?
I wonder if it helps the UK left the EU, somehow I feel the commonwealth countries want to belong to the rest of ‘the west’ but also don’t want to be too close to London either. If that’s true, that’s another Brexit benefit for the non-brits.
Aside from CPTPP, Five Eyes, AUKUS, Australia signing the first free trade agreement after Brexit?
We’re practically EU members already, what with Eurovision and all that. Might as well make it official.
Always with the banger entries too. I didn’t watch this year as we were boycotting but I heard it was another good one from down under.
So is Israel. Please don’t admit Israel until they stop their genocide, make reparations and remove the maniacs in charge.
… remove the maniacs, stop their genocide and make reparations. would be a more fruitful order to do those things in. Also please kick these genocidal maniacs from the EBU until then.
Sure, that’s the logical order. Mine was more in priority of necessity…
It’d be funny Britain: “we want to leave to traid with australia” Britain leaves australia joins
This is interesting. The EU… with a stretch.
Yay.
Though the EU did get uppity about our local feta cheese, because it’s not made in the pedantry region of Greece.
Even as an associate member, it would still be a requirement for your local version of feta to be named something else, I imagine.
Yeah, that was the kerfuffle a couple of years ago. Now they’re all called feta-style or some such nonsense.
