Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has welcomed the prospect of Canada becoming the first "associate member" of the European Union, as the president of the European Parliament has hinted Australia and New Zealand could follow.
Most people don’t seem to know what ‘third world’ actually mean. Back in the days of the cold war, the ‘first world’ was the US and its allies (NATO), the ‘second world’ was the USSR and its allies (Warsaw Pact), and the ‘third world’ was every other bugger. At that time, the third world was mostly economically poor and pre-industrialized countries.
So, perhaps it’s time to revive the original meaning, and have all of Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand (and anyone else who wants to join us - Africa, South America, you guys in?) proclaim loud and proud that we are all third world countries!

Why don’t we all join NAM instead
