If you factor in inflation, I can find a 5060 for about 30% more than I got a 1060 for when that was new. You will get far more than a 30% boost in performance.
So happy I bought a RX 9060 XT from AMD for 400€ in July. It now climbed to 500€ and I am watching where this goes. Fuck NVIDIA by the way.
My 1080 Ti still runs pretty much every game out there, granted it’s only 1920x1080. You’ll be fine, as long you don’t care about ray tracing or have a 4K monitor or chase high FPS
Honestly my regular 1080 only has trouble with a handful of really demanding games if I’m not too proud to bump down some settings. It’s put in over 1k hours in cyberpunk, so not bad
You do know that when a new GPU series releases they actively buy back and destroy left over supplies to keep the prices high, right? They have been doing that for ages!
I do not know that.
Nvidia is directly responsible for a large chunk of how shitty society is right now.
My poor little 980ti doin its best but fml.
I would like someday to have an 1080 or equivalent
Happy Pie day!
Or stop paying the company that’s pushing all this BS.
Linux life is easier with AMD anyway.
AMD is fully onboard the AI bubble as well though. Just with less money since they own a smaller part of the market than NVIDIA.
It is a sad fact that unless you buy used, there is no way around supporting an AI company when buying gpu.
Plug and play baby

I don’t mind it sometimes, given that more content in the Fediverse is needed in a lot of communities. And I hate reddit enough that I never visit the site, so I don’t know what was reposted here or what’s OC.
I remember in the beginning of reddit, 80% of memes were reposts from 9gag or canihazcheesebuger, which on their turm reposted from reddit and each other as well. The recycle cycle was very effective.
No joke, 90% of content here (lemmy) is reddit reposts, and it has been so for a while.
I don’t think many 3060 owners will ever get a 5090 to sell you their old ones. Sorry.
The human centipede of graphics cards
got a 3060 laptop from costco for £600. just after the bitcoin crash of early 2020s.
