A three-time Trump voter was left devastated after the immigration policies of the president he repeatedly supported resulted in his wife being taken away.
Tech salesman and former MAGA supporter Brent Jindra, 48, was stunned when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained his wife, Galina Bobreneva, after the couple landed at Burbank Airport in California, The New York Times reported.
“A U.S. citizen just watched his wife get dragged away and had no idea where she was going,” Jindra, who voted for President Donald Trump, 80, because of his promises of strict immigration enforcement, recalled of the day.
I’m so happy for him.
But did I read that right? He’s devastated? I thought he’d be happy. He got what he voted for.
But, but, I thought they were only going after people I hate :(
I hope he has people in his life to make sure he knows that this is his fault.
You wanted this for the rest of us, so I’m out of thoughts, prayers, and fucks. I hope it gets worse for him.
“Wahhhh, I was so fucking retarded, I voted against my own best interests and now I want sympathy”
Live shamed, and die empty, you worthless, Nazi collaborating, pedophile supporting, waste of a human life…

I humbly request that you consider eliminating the “R” word from your vocabulary.
Folks here and here make the case better than I could.
I’m sure no harm was intended, but harm is still caused by that word. The folks to whom it applies are well aware of it and know it’s about them, whether you mean it to be or not.
My wife used to teach at an adult day school for adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities. She taught, among other things, Shakespeare. When I say that her students learned the material, I mean they’d sit around and discuss it. They knew it better than I did (although in fairness, I’ve never been much into Shakespeare).
It’s just a word that feels like it doesn’t harm, but it does. I used to use it years ago until someone pointed this out to me, and now I hope that I can help end the usage of it.
If you read this far, I thank you for doing that, no matter which option you choose. <3
The “r” word isn’t specific to mental shortcomings. That’s slang and is shortened from the actual mental-specific terms. It is used a lot for its proper meaning in many fields, one of which is obviously medicine.
Just like any sound that comes from a mouth, it’s not the letters, it’s the intent. If we start erasing words because people lack any knowledge of them, we’d need to readdress the entire language. In this case, people use a short-form of it (the word only) to incorrectly disparage a person with a condition they do not have. Such as idiot, moron, spastic, etc. which all have the same historical weight and use as retard, so are no different. The only difference is a lack of knowledge and defaulting to being offended, which is exactly what the person saying it as slang intended.
That intent could be with any word.
How would you rewrite that part of the sentence that used the “R” word? It seems like “idiot” and “stupid” (edit: “moron”) are also terms with historical baggage, and likely fall into the same category of being a slur. Or is it just because the “R” word is still in use by the medical field? I suppose “dumbass” is the first word that comes to mind without historical (or current?) baggage, and I’m personally fine to use that term to replace all the others above. But the links you provided don’t really give guidance on how to express the above in a “safe” alternative way (note the original was an internal thought); I guess I’m here proposing that everyone just use “dumbass” (shout out to “Red”).
Edit: I guess “dumb” also has its problems; perhaps even “fool”?
was such a fucking [dipshit | jackass | asshole | incompetent | fool | asswipe]
There are so many fun words to use!
You can also make new ones.
Like their father being a hamster, and their mother smelling of elderberries.
Ahah, a person of culture!
terms with historical baggage,
Historic baggage maybe, but certainly not current baggage. The “R” word has current baggage.
And that’s the difference.
Yes, language changes, and we adjust - “colored” used to be the preferred word when discussing black people.
My dear friend, a lovely, kind and caring father, has a daughter born with some challenges. She’s profoundly autistic, as I recall. Her path and potential are not the same as ours.
My friend talks with his doc often, as required, as in his area the care for his daughter is strong and consistent.
The doctor said, and says, that my friend’s wonderful little girl is removed in her intellectual development. That’s the word he uses. That’s the word my dear friend uses when he talks about his universe when she is sitting in his lap. There’s no malice there, and he says it as matter-of-factly as one would say “she has brown hair”.
My dear friend, who is a great guy in every respect - I’m a little jealous - heard this word from his doctor, and uses this word when relevant am And referring to his little girl whom he obviously loves with all his heart.
I’m not a great guy. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a social justice warrior. I am not going to invite wrath by volunteering such a word, as English is a language steered by vapid ticktock fame-whores and that word has been co-opted. It’s so fetch to reduce clarity in speech, so like, share and subscribe. But I’m not in a position or need to ‘correct’ what a doctor told a kind and caring person is the correct word to describe his beautiful child.
You be you.

If by “removed” you mean the R word, yes. Saying that someone’s cognitive development has been retarded is no different than saying that by throwing an anchor out into the ocean, a ship’s speed is retarded.
Context is important.
Those usages are completely different than the epithet of the R word when used to mean “stupid”. It is being used pejoritively.
If you use valid uses of the word to defend pejoritive uses, then that is your choice to do so. In my book, it reflects poorly on you.
it’s just a word that feels like it doesn’t harm, but it does
And that’s the fucking point.
By referring to Nazis with that word you associate people who have no choice but to have their development medically described with that word to Nazis. That’s who you might hurt, harmless folk who don’t deserve to be associated with Nazis because you can’t find more creative ways to insult a bunch of absolute scumbags.
Would you please consider removing the “S” word from your vocabulary when it comes to describing nazis? It is hurtful to scum, as you can see here.
don’t hurt me
or give me up ;-)
I don’t know why you feel the need to cause unnecessary pain to those with disabilities, but that’s your choice to do so.
I don’t know how I expected “wahhhh” to be spelled, but I always immediately read it in Wario’s voice.
Let’s a go!
The problem is I doubt a person like this will vote blue next election.
A lot are single issue voters. They will vote for whoever will preserve gun rights or oppose abortion or stick it to the libruls
MAGA voters are zombies, not people, and we are in a zombie apocalypse.
Kind of puts that Rick and Morty episode into perspective…
Not only won’t they vote blue, they’ll write in Trump.
Ooh some leopards eating some faces. Reached my free article limit so copypasta-d here.
Jindra was in town to see clients, while Bobreneva—who is originally from Russia—had traveled with him to visit friends. Instead, she was taken to the Adelanto ICE Processing Facility, leaving Jindra struggling to understand how his wife, who “did not jump a wall, she did not swim a river,” could be detained when she “came in Trump’s beautiful, big front door.”
Bobreneva arrived in the U.S. in 2021 on a tourist visa, which she later extended after the war in Ukraine broke out. She applied for asylum in 2022, before meeting Jindra.
“It was your storybook romance,” Jindra told the Times of their relationship. The couple met in March 2025 and married that December. In April, Jindra petitioned to sponsor his wife for a marriage-based green card.
By the time she was detained, Bobreneva had reportedly received official confirmation that her application had been accepted and had already been fingerprinted as part of the process. Her lawyer has asserted that she was never out of lawful status.
“I never thought that it was so easy to take freedom from anyone,” she told the Times, describing conditions inside the Adelanto ICE Processing Facility as making her feel “like a piece of meat, not like a human.” She said the lights were kept on around the clock and that women were crammed together inside the facility. A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official disputed her characterization in a statement to the Times.
Bobreneva’s account comes as scrutiny of ICE’s treatment of detainees and use of force continues to mount. On Monday, DHS announced that ICE plans to equip its agents with gloves capable of delivering painful electric shocks to migrants.
The announcement came weeks after a July ACLU report, which reviewed more than 1,200 immigration enforcement operations involving ICE, found that nearly a third involved the use or threat of force. Overall, thirty-two detainees died in ICE custody in 2025—the agency’s deadliest year in more than two decades, according to a Guardian tally published at the end of the year.
Bobreneva was released on July 29 on a $35,000 bond and fitted with an ankle monitor. Her case remains ongoing, and she must report to ICE and appear in court, as the proceedings could take months to resolve.
“The allure of the MAGA campaign was around illegal entries of criminals,” Jindra told the Times. The DHS said in a statement to the Times that Jindra’s wife was “an illegal alien” who was targeted for arrest because “she overstayed her welcome in violation of our nation’s laws.”
“We are living in fear in my own country,” Jindra said.
The tech salesman is not the only Trump voter to become frustrated with the president’s policies. An MS NOW segment from June featuring Trump voters—including some who have supported him in every election since 2016—captured growing frustration directed at the president.
“The average American is struggling to make ends meet right now. And nobody wants to hear ‘the war’s almost over.’ Nobody wants to hear ‘it’s gonna get better,’” said Chris Tackett, a three-time Trump voter from Ohio who works as a truck driver.
In a separate segment aired in August, the network spoke to an Ohio mother and three-time Trump voter who broke down in tears as she described how the affordability crisis was making life increasingly difficult.
“You can’t do anything,” she said, pointing to rising gas prices that have made it difficult to “afford to breathe at this point.” She also admitted she felt “hurt” by what she sees happening in the country.
The Daily Beast has reached out to the White House for comment.
ICE plans to equip its agents with gloves capable of delivering painful electric shocks to migrants.
I’m sorry, what the FUCK?!
The CTG-5 G.L.O.V.E. products deliver shocks ranging from 324 to 362 volts and have a hard operational limit of 380 volts. By comparison, a taser can reach between 1,200 and 1,500 volts.
If only journalists took the 5 seconds to look up how voltage and current actually work to understand that this comparison without other reference points is worthless…
Shocker, right?
I’ll see myself out
Have the day you voted for
Hopium. They’ll still vote for/with him.
He’s baffled.
“He was a boy, she was a girl, can I make it anymore obvious?”
He was a punk, they locked her away
