And they all live happier more successful lives for it.
They’re not happy though, they’re miserable.
😭
I think it’s tempting to imagine that we’re the smart ethical ones, and I certainly do my best not to be the person the meme is describing, but it always strikes me that for as much as I might think that about some others, I’m certain there are people out there who view me as just as ignorant, unethical, and stupid, just for very different reasons
The fact that you have those thoughts puts you ahead of the majority.
Common sense isn’t a thing. It’s a word you use to describe something you know without having to been told it, aka, your gut intuition. Turns out, that’s kinda different for everyone.
There’s an XKCD for that.
But yeah, in IT I’ve heard so much shitting on EUs for not having “common sense”.
- No one is born knowing this stuff.
- Most people have no need to know this stuff.
- If everyone knew this stuff you wouldn’t have a job.
When I first started in desktop support, pretty much every one would apologize to me for asking for help.
I got the best feedback from the EUs, largely because I made it a point that it’s cool to not know how to fix your issue and I’m here for the sole purpose of helping you.
100%
The difference between good and great IT people is this right here.
Tech skills can only get you so far if you’re an asshole to your users and talk shit about them.
Why is “some people have no inner voice” on the list with the rest of these? You don’t need an inner monologue to be intelligent or empathetic or dependable or anything else, some people just process information non-verbally.
My guess is they mean “a conscience,” but they used a terrible word choice. One doesn’t need an inner-monologue in order to have a conscience.
What did poor Fernando do?
The internet allows people in small minority groups to gather virtually and speak loudly as one. Be they trans people or fucking idiots.
I think what surprised us all is just how many fucking idiots there are. I mean, before the internet, there was always one or maybe two in a social group the other’s needed to keep in check. They were dispersed somewhat evenly throughout society. But, now, they just find each other online and there’s no one nearby to watch over them, or tell them they’re stupid and to shut up.
We’ve gone from the village idiot, to villages of idiots, and now the gospel of idiocy praise unto the king of morons and his flock to punish the sinners of critical thought.
There really is no shortage of people who are incapable of thinking critically or that not every issue is black, white, left, or right to be solved with upvotes and likes.
common sense is common
but it’s uncommon to common people¿Que es Fernando?
I am out of flying fernandos
This was literally me one time that I was trying to convince a meth dealing biker gang to bring me in on their operation because their supplier was the serial murderer I’d spent the last 13 years hunting for who was the last surviving heir to a decades-old child sex cult ran by the governor and his brother in inland Louisiana
Everyone can relate to that!
I’m thinking with my one brain cell that this must be the plot of the movie the meme template came from, but I’m too lazy to check
It is the first season of True Detective.
Ah that makes sense
I’m still waiting for someone to define common sense for me.
it be that way when you concentrate all on the negative like negative people do.
It was something in the air that night…
Some??
I feel like I’ve had any empathy and morality beaten the fuck out of me.
