And ones who think that climate change is part of the “perfect plan” and they have a room in paradise later anyway, that’s deadly for all of us, and they vote against humanity. Brainwashed to vote that way, often to feel righteous about this or that lie, but it’s all propaganda and the world is worse off for their unhealthy policies and choices. It’s visible in quality of life regression.

Maybe religions need a revamping. A Reli-nissance. Like another breaking away abrahamic nu religion.

It wouldn’t be the end-all solution, but at least with a bandaid fix, more time could be bought, and it could align closer to reality?

… The more I think about that, though, the worse idea it seems. Because in order to grow a religion, you have to convince people of a delusion or make converts, which end up being even more zealous for said idea.

Call me Mother Mohiam Scmstr of the Bene Gesserit, cuz we planting millennia-plans to try and fix stuff and it’s gonna end poorly for everybody.

        Exactly.

Why is reality not enough for people? Our universe is endlessly fascinating.

Why is reality not enough for people?

Hmmm probably pain and the vulnerability that opens from pain.

And ignorance. A lot of people just don’t know or were never shown what’s out there. A lot of religion teaches, either explicitly or implicitly, that asking questions is taboo. They just don’t know.

And also bias. If you teach somebody that taboo-fencing worldview from a young age, and they grow up with and inside of it, we know that there is a bias against new information. And while the universe is infinitely amazing, if you deny deny deny, and live in the world of stories and tradition, in Plato’s cave, outside would seem unsafe, hostile, and unpleasant, and thus the cycle of sharing a lifetime of what you know, continues.
