Meanwhile in the US people are literally doing nothing as federal agents shoot unarmed civilians in the head. And yet Im repeatedly told I dont understand because Americans are just trying to survive day to day.
If people in India are willing to risk arrest what is your excuse?
There have been massive protests in the US. There have been arrests of protesters in the US, many of whom were not released on the next day. And as you point out in your comment, they’ve been risking getting shot in the head while doing it.
This protest is entering its second day. Maybe slow your roll a little in the comparison.
These protests have been going on for months in one form or another, actually. The regime is getting increasingly heavy-handed in how they deal with opposition in an attempt to convince the world that everything is fine.
To be fair this is the second iteration of these protests so it has been more than two days overall. The first iteration led to the government accepting the protestors demands and the resignation of the key education minister that was held in contempt.
On one hand I would say India has a rich tradition of protest and the people naturally have an inclination to slap back at authoritarianism. British foreign occupation and Indira Gandhi declaring emergency in the post independence period come to mind. On the other, America has a similarly rich tradition of standing against tyranny albeit shorter, more violent and cushioned by relative prosperity. The No Kings protests were of a smaller scale and arguably less effectual but the spirit of standing against authoritarianism is absolutely present in both nations.
I mean, if your country is working like a functioning democracy run by responsible adults, you might not need to do anything about that except be reasonably productive and pay your taxes.
“if your country is working like a functioning democracy run by responsible adults”
This is a common trope, even over twenty years ago in grade school the notion was that we have an oligarchy or worse. American Democracy was effective propaganda.
Like, I know that the US media will not cover that. But what about other non-US media outlets? Or, how do you know there are massive protests, including unlawful arrests?
I am genuinely curious. I’m a Eurofag and want to know what’s happening behind the curtain.
US media has been covering these. It’s not a secret and if you haven’t heard of them I really don’t feel inclined to do the most basic searches to satisfy your curiosity. No Kings was massive and country wide, Minneapolis was under siege for a month, congressional candidates were arrested in Chicago, some guy got accused of terrorism for throwing a sandwich, two protesters have been murdered, and people demonstrating with fireworks were convicted on 50 year sentences.
No sources - classic. The bit of holding up a few signs is not what I would call a protest. I was hoping you were actually knowing what you were talking about when berating other countries on how to protest. You tell others to keep on protesting for longer, while you mention No Kings, an event of a couple of hours walking through the streets together on a weekend.
How naive of me of actually expecting you to provide proper sources.

Protests are not enough. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. Just not everyone is ready to admit it yet.
What are you doing to help?
Im not American. Its not my job to unfuck your country.
Do you do anything useful in your country then?
I mean, if your country is working like a functioning democracy run by responsible adults, you might not need to do anything about that except be reasonably productive and pay your taxes.
I’m sorry. This isn’t directed at you.

About what?
Ok, but nothing more is (currently) happening in India.
Source?

Go back to 4chan, dipshit.
Funny how now one is able to provide any sources. I wonder why this might be the case.
Because no one wants to put up with your bullshit. Go away.

To help narrow down your search, I believe they’re referring to the ICE protests.
Here’s a Wikipedia page of one of the murdered protesters. You can probably find more in the links throughout this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Renée_Good
Thank you, very much appreciated.
Yup, I thought I smelled a sea lion.
Hyper individualism plus isolation equals no solidarity. Revolution requires solidarity.
