I kind of agree with you but that’s a sweeping generalization, what do you make of Uyghers in China?

It’s not a sweeping generalization. It’s an observable fact. Regarding Uyghers in China, it’s possible for conservatives to oppress and genocide other conservatives. The world is not zero-sum.

This feels like a no true scotsman thing. I get it because I don’t like “conservatives” either, but are we going to call Stalin a conservative?

100% yes. Stalin was absolutely a conservative. He even targeted and murdered progressives. You will find that neither communism nor socialism require progressives to be in charge in order to exist.

Modern China is another great example of conservative-led communism.

But does “conservative” to you just mean violent, repressive, and pro-authoritarian?

I’m against all those things, and I think Stalin and Hitler have a lot in common despite Stalin being “left” and “Hitler” being right, but I dont see how it serves you to call everyone who acts violently and unjustifiably towards their people a conservative.

Stalin was socially conservative, the opposite of socially progressive. That is how I am using the term. The same way that Russian and Chinese governments are led by conservatives and not progressives.
