    Sure you had the right kind of people around you back then?

    I like the saying “time that is enjoyed wasting isn’t wasted”, but it sounds like it wasn’t enjoyable to you back then…

      There were no better people to be around.

      We don’t get to pick our parents or where we grow up. I’m just grateful I was smart and driven enough to get out of there and I didn’t make stupid choices that would have made my life miserable as theirs were.

          yeah, what sucks is a lot of people who don’t directly have that experience think it doesn’t exist.

          or the folks who think you’re a ‘traitor’ for improving your life.
