Some toilets flush mechanisms require a long hold, some only need a light press. Others, a jab to compensate for a bad lever.
Others need some fiddling for it to go. Some you use your hand, others, you use a square of toilet paper before touching it. And a few you definitely use your foot even though you know it’s wrong, because… ew.

It’s not pedantic to learn a new word. Just spreading knowledge for people who read the comments.
I find it pedantic to make a trivial correction, in this case.
The point of using words is to communicate. If the reader understands my point, then all is well. Evidently they did.
If you’re making an significant or interesting correction, then that’s fine with me. You weren’t doing that in this case.
