Your not totally wrong on the threat to privacy and democracy in the EU and its member states. You are dead wrong however on much of the rest. The EU is working hard on all sorts of things that are crucial for strategic autonomy. Sovereign satellite communication, payment systems fully independent from the US, also down to the consumer with credit card alternatives in daily life. Laying the groundwork for transition to open source based software in all public systems at the very least. A lot of those things have meaningfully accelerated in recent years, or at least started for real.
Some of these things are already pretty progressed others just starting. This does take time and it is done best without shouting it out loud all the time.
Dumping all bonds to trigger a nuclear option, while not at least much of the above has been done to a sufficient extend, is not terribly clever.
