Vet med problems
Lol, my cat literally has to be sedated before going to the vet. She’s absolutely sweet towards me but does NOT trust anyone else.
Spouse is a vet tech. The horrors I hear each week with fractious cats.
Thankfully you let them sedate them.
This week she had to transfer a cat that was jumping all over the room. She caught it in a net, but before getting it in it’s cage. Somehow the cat still got a nail stuck in her arm through the net and wouldn’t let go. The nail audibly “popped” out and left a weird puncture + subcutaneous hematoma.
The owner was sobbing and apologized because they were embarrassed by how bad the cat was acting.
If your pet’s going to be an asshole let them know ahead and allow them to sedate if they ask. Also don’t ask for a nail trim after they take them back, it’s a dick move. Ask before.
My cat is fractious with me but cowed at the vet. I dose her just to get her into the carrier. Though they may do more if they need to do a procedure or scan. And I always appreciate a complete nail trim, even when it’s just me holding her while the vet clips, because it’s so much easier than doing it alone.
(I have a daily routine with her where she’s in a particular spot on the kitchen counter and I wrap an arm around and feel her front feet, clipping at most one claw, and then let her jump up on the water heater to a couple toothy treats. More than one and she starts hissing and pulling back, tries to jump away and will bite.)
