The ramifications of Brexit reverberate back to Westminster. A model for US states to consider?
Was tried once already. Didn’t go so well.
Two regional parties who’s identity is founded around independence from the UK, and another party who’s identity is founded on having Northern Ireland join the Republic of Ireland, all get together and reiterate their founding ideals.
Wow. What revolutionary news! /s
Must be a fucking slow news day.
I agree.
This is political theatre to try and gain support for “doing something” whilst wasting time on doing actually nothing.
Bets on England continuing to call themselves the UK if the other three go independent?
They’ll probably say something like “well technically we still have nations under our kingdom’s common wealth”.
Tbh idk how big of a headache it’d be to change the name. How much would a name change cost? How many systems will need to be updated?
Scotland voted to remain not too long ago. I believe they should give it a few more years before revisiting that question. Northern Ireland may indeed rejoin the Republic at some point in the future, if current trends continue. However, it will likely still take time for the apparent majority to emerge there. My personal guess is that I might see a united Ireland but my children will most likely see it within their lifetimes. Wales? Well, it’s Wales and therefore it’s full of English people to begin with, so…
Scotland voted remain after being threatened to be blocked from entering the EU by England. And then England stabbed Scotland on the back with the Brexit.
While true, there’s no way Scotland would get into the EU any time soon as an independent country. It would be a drawn out process and some member country would inevitably disagree for some reason or another.
Scotland voted remain by a slim margin, 11 years ago, before Brexit, and a lot of the people that voted to remain have since died of old age.

Yeah. Let’s just wait til we’re really in the shit and the UK government has trashed everything good about our country, THEN have a referendum. Awesome plan.
