I’m old, I never did more than one interview, and all but one place hired me on the spot when I got an interview. I didn’t always make it to an interview, though. I’m not bragging, I’m nothing special, it’s more about how things were much different 30+ years ago.
Does that not even happen at fast food, or Walmart anymore? Multiple interviews for them, too?
It happens occasionally for retail, especially if they’re hiring you for anything above grunt work. Manager? Even shift lead? You’re likely looking for at least two rounds of interviewing. I had sales positions that wanted me to interview two or three times as well.
I mean, I understand the first 15 minute talk with some hiring manager, before the real interview, to align rough expectations and filter out absolute zeroes without bothering the skilled workers. I wouldn’t want to talk to all of them either when I got work to do.

But yeah it’s crazy out there.
