I recently electrified my beloved steel tourer, and the extra speed combined with worsening road surface in my area is making me want a bit more comfort. Getting older might be a factor as well 😛

Has anyone tried suspension seatposts? Are they effective? Are there any downsides, besides a small amount of extra weight?

The telescoping ones I’ve tried have all been sticky like a cheap fork. Four-bar linkages like the Thudbuster work better IMO. Though I have never found a suspension seatpost I really liked. It bugs me to have the distance between the saddle and cranks vary without my input.

Can your frame fit bigger tires? I would recommend going that route if possible.

      Thanks, that’s good to know.

I think I could go from my current 40c to 45. 50 might be a bit of a squeeze though.

I suppose the other thing I could do is let a bit of air out!
