Back when I was applying for other jobs I tried to use the company mandated AI to generate (or at least write a few paragraphs for) my CV. It turned out like shit and sounded completely insincere and fake. So I decided to not use AI at all for my job search. Wrote and formatted a nice 1-page CV by hand and simply didn’t apply to any positions that required a cover letter (cover letters are a waste of time imo).

Applied to maybe 50 or so places, got 3 interviews and 3 offers. Job search was done within like a month or two. All of it on company time too, as I wasn’t really motivated to waste my off-time on it. Even took a sick day to go to an in-person interview.

Now since I turned in my 3-months notice I’ve been spending at least half of every working day playing video games. Currently obsessed with Squeakross: Home Squeak Home, which is a Rat-themed Picross game. (10/10, would recommend btw, it’s super cute)

Anyways, my manager ran some “diagnostics” for our yearly performance reviews recently and seems like the new architect they hired like 10 months ago is finally starting to catch up to me in the “Story points per sprint” metric. This guy was exclusively hired because he promised my manager that he’s super smart about “Agentic AI coding” and all that shit. Well, our LiteLLM is severely misconfigured, so I can see that he’s spending about 600€ on Claude tokens per month. I can only imagine what his salary is too. Easy to say I’m probably nowhere close to wasting as many company funds as he is.

I once spent a solid work week doing nothing but read webcomics, keep colleagues from working by walking around to chat with them and go to lunch. People are so much more productive in the office, right?

I had a job where I was made to “look busy” by carrying around a clipboard. I pretended to look at shelves as if I were writing down product information, but I was actually doodling and writing down story ideas.

Prior to that, I would legit look up product information, so that I could better inform the customers who asked me questions. But management didn’t like seeing me standing at a computer and told me to stop. Ah well, malicious compliance it is.

I’m sure you know this but it’s about control and the middle manager emotional validation of seeing a bunch of people “working” at their stations.

I also do only the minimum required to keep my job, just like how they pay the absolute minimum to prevent me from quitting. It’s just business. It’s not like there’s a reward for working harder.

      Upgrade your plan to continue

Upgrade, continue, not 5 mins later…

You have run out of your current tier tokens, please wait 4 hrs or, upgrade to the super ultimate plan.

Note: I nearly died laughing as LTT tried to put a gaming PC together using ChatGPT, good thing there were no cinder block walls nearby. First tier sucked, paid for second tier, it was a tiny bit better, then had to upgrade to the top tier and I think it was ~$130C/month

The last time it cut me off until the reset, after squandering half my requests on graphics that never appeared, it offered to keep me company until the reset, which it couldn’t predict.

Yeah, right, like I want cuddle with a loser like you.

Hey, WTF? Did I just sexually harassed by an AI?

Yes. And it’s the best run study about that thing out there.

What isn’t saying much. You shouldn’t take conclusions from a single small study. You shouldn’t conclude they improve anything either.

AI doesn’t earn a wage, so in short order companies will lose interest in an AI only work force. They’ll get bored without their favorite pastime, wage theft

All my projects at work are low priority and low pressure, with no time constraints. I’m setting up a Pathfinder campaign
