I wanted a durable sustainable large light bottle and found these ones from Spain. Large dog and me consume a lot of water so I opted for a one liter single walled that would still fit in my bum bag bottle holder. Despite not a thermos it keeps refrigerated water cold for at least an hour or more in the current 28°C heat so I’m happy.

Is it really made in Spain ? I’m pretty tired of the ‘Designed in Germany…Made in China’ / ‘Responsibly made in PRC with Swiss technology’ macro-bullshit.

Manufactured in Spain. It doesn’t feel “designed” as in contemporary lifestyle design but rather like a classic old school rugged outdoors thingy that might as well be a flea market find from the sixties except it is new.

      From their FAQ:

Most of our products are manufactured in Spain, where product design, quality control, and a significant part of our production take place.

Some of our stainless steel bottles and other products are manufactured in specialised facilities in other countries, all operating under our strict quality and traceability standards. In every case, product development, technical supervision, and quality control are managed directly by LAKEN.

Reading that i assume their product page will show you the trace of their strict quality control.

        Does it?

I’m not sure what expectations you have for a water bottle but it feels very solid and doesn’t leak.

    28 ºC? Where are you?

Nonetheless, is this bottle wrapped or is the metal coloured? Mine is wrapped and when it’s dented the wrap will crack and peel away

Sweden. It is aluminium with a painted coating of the sort that was common on mid century devices for professional use in workshops and such.

        What? No.

In other words, me being from Spain, Laken is the brand of canteens and metal bottles I’ve seen my whole life. They are everywhere in Spain and I don’t think I could name any other brand. Maybe Quechua the store brand of Decathlon, but I don’t count those.
