      Honestly think the circle is helpful to get you to be more likely to look at the left image first. So many of these, the joke is spoiled because you start on the wrong side.

    The same happened to me once, but it was shoes.
    I needed to talk to a professor. Everybody was afraid of the guy. He said I should come in on that and that day.
    After some knocking, I opened the door to his office that I was told had been quiet for hours and was presumed empty, and almost got a heart attack when I saw shoes under the table.
    Imagine my relief when I opened the door a bit further and discovered there was only a pair of empty shoes. The owner had gone out.
