I hate that YouTubers who preferred to keep their face to themselves now have to start shooting up in videos just so we can be sure they’re an actual human being. AI is helping kill privacy.
I’m certainly no AI-apologetic, but if you don’t notice a difference, then why pay a human more for the same? If it’s that good.
Isn’t that simple progress? Same reason we don’t hire people anymore who ride our carriages because a car does the same?
You can have perfect pronunciation without sounding like AI. Prosody is the real giveaway.

Someone could train a model on samples with a lisp based on my very limited understanding. I don’t think that’s a surefire way to avoid anything.
It’s not, and training AI voice is trivially easy.
The Infographics channel guy had to start opening all his videos with a partial frame video recording of him reading the script, along with a bunch of disclaimers that the art style the channel has been doing for years is not AI.
Dude’s just too good at talking.
He’s very good at turning actual data into a compelling yet fundamentally accurate narrative.
…anyway, he’s got a lot of great videos explaining how AI is a giant fucking scam.
I can see the desire here, but I was listening to an audiobook (the left hand of darkness) and the narrator’s slight lisp combine with the alien names and places made it hard for me to follow.
Ah, thank god it’s not just me. I’m elated to hear unclean narration, as well as typos in posts and comments.
