Maybe when they are cheap and durable, but until then, completely off the table for >99% of the market. But as they are right now, there will just be a niche.

Also, they are worse phones. The flip style makes more sense as a foldable. I don’t think there will ever be much market for them.
I do think a lot of people force themselves to like it, when it’s “cool” as a young adult. I’d bet most people would pick a different drink if there was no buzz around alcohol.

World News@lemmy.world•British man with dementia told to leave Sweden after losing migration case
242·2 months agoThese are countries that want to put people from war torn and poor countries in containers and ship them back. There’s such a disgusting lack of empathy in the world at the moment, no wonder fascism is back.
They aren’t particularly good actors either (which is why you see them and not their character), they are just cast for their name. Which is strange, as Nolan had good casting in the past and certainly doesn’t need that kind of boost, but perhaps they want to grab a younger audience?
But! But! Banning guns doesnt work!!1!

World News@lemmy.world•'Hands off our game': EU slams FIFA for selling World Cup
29·2 months agoIt’s all words until they pull out of the next World Cup. If they didn’t boycott Russia, Qatar, USA and no word on the Saudi World Cup, then they are not going to do anything now. It’s all greed and corruption all the way through.

I imagine because their work environment is laid back, it’s easier to just enjoy it and not worry about squeezing everything out of it.
Big opportunity for Xbox to make their own “here’s how you share a game on Playstation” display.

41·4 months agoYeah, the self-hosted and FOSS side of things will forever be improving, but corporate shit just gets worse in terms of UX. I mean even FOSS projects have awful UX sometimes as they try copying corpos and their web apps.

421·4 months agoAnd I realize everyone probably has a “things were better back then, shakes fist” opinion
At some point, we have to start admitting that things were just better before. A lot of technology/software peaked ~15 years ago. Before it started sliding into the fucking mess we have these days.

3·4 months agoI’ve had a similar comment chain to this, it seems Israeli defenders have the same argument strategy, where they try to put words in your mouth. Kind of embarrassing for them.

World News@lemmy.world•‘How can you have a Ferrari without any vroom?’: electric model shocks owners’ club
21·4 months agoI’m pretty sure an ICE takes up more space, there’s a lot more components to it. There’s some very slim EV super cars. And yeah, way more flexibility with an EV system.

I think BIOS has just morphed into meaning the firmware interface, nobody calls it UEFI. Everyone does indeed just say BIOS, which is okay. You can be more specific when it matters, which is basically never in the mass market.
