This was the reason stated in the article, they’re not seeking asylum. They literally just wealthy people acquiring citizenship like it’s a membership to a new country club. Equating them in any way to the real struggles of people attempting to flee persecution is so wild to me, but I guess it’s cool to do because we like George Clooney.
