7 days agoThere is an accent from the American south that is quite often mistaken for British or Irish: The Ocracoke Hoi Toiders.
Ocracoke is a small island at the southern end of the Outer Banks or North Carolina, it was isolated so long that they maintain a pretty unique accent that outright doesn’t sound North American.
On the one hand, they’re a workaholic culture that basically doesn’t allow for a social or family life, so obviously their population is aging and the last ethnically Japanese person is going to be born in 2042.
On the other hand, they might just have a point.
