You shouldn’t be shoveling a salad unless it’s potato or macaroni salad. Maybe your thinking of coleslaw? Leafy green salads are nearly impossible to shovel with a fork unless you mince the ingredients into unrecognizably tiny bits, aka a slaw. With very little practice, eating with chopsticks isn’t much different than eating with your fingers. In fact, there’s a few things I can do with chopsticks that I could never easily do with my fingers or a fork.
You can absolutely shovel with chopsticks. It may take a little extra dexterity, but is far from impossible. It’s really only harder if you haven’t much practice with chopsticks. Besides, shoveling anything with a fork is kind of a disaster when you throw leafy greens into the mix.
That’s not how I eat a salad with chopsticks. No stabbing, no shoveling; at the dinner table that is bad etiquette. It’s more like “grabbing” a clump of lettuce and toppings mixed together with a couple “fingers”, except your “fingers” are chopsticks. Most of the small bits stick to the leafy greens or are inherently wrapped up in them. I find picking those few remaining tiny bits out of the bottom of a bowl is actually easier with chopsticks than trying to shovel them on to a fork.
Good news! Eating things like salad, chips/crisps, fried rice, noodle dishes, ramen, etc. is a great way to get good with chopsticks.

Those sun visors (and pretty much any soft case or sleeve type holder) absolutely devoured CDs. I had one too, everybody did, but I only let mine eat my burned CDs (mostly mixes I crafted with cross-fades and normalized levels using foobar2000 and a pirated copy of SoundForge) and carefully curated MP3-CDs. Scratched? Who cares, I burned multiple copies to pass around and trade with friends anyway.

But, seriously, my biggest issue with buying from “real” farmer’s markets is the gas and time I spend getting there and the ease of buying WAY more than I will realistically be able to actually eat before it goes bad. It’s so easy to buy too much (For me anyway, that 's probably just a me problem).

My social anxiety combined with an ability to sing that is overshadowed by my ability to hear when people sing off key is exactly why I sing karaoke. I belt out the songs I know I can sing (at least a little) and songs that I love because it beats the thrill of any roller coaster around. My eyes may be closed. My hands might be shaking so bad I can barely hold the mic. But… I don’t know. Karaoke isn’t about being good. It’s not about talent. It’s not about looking good for the gram. It’s about being in the moment and not letting all of that bullshit silence the song in your heart. Fucking let it all out. It’s like jumping out of a plane BECAUSE you have a fear of heights instead of doing it in spite of that fear.
At that scale meters and miles are pretty close with respect to orders of magnitude, which is why practically everyone talks about these scales in AUs regardless of what units they actually used to do the science.
It’s more than simply unfair. It’s theft, wage theft, plain and simple.
A CSV is just a long string of text with a few control characters tossed in for end lines. There are practically no rules enforced by the file type itself. You can dump that unsanitized and poorly awk’d data into whatever awful mess you want. Nobody’s stopping you. Sure, excel will force it’s CSV formatting rules on you when you export like a child’s training wheels. But that’s not relevant here.
The article is saying that these sharks aren’t really sharking though. The sharks behavior has been changed by environmental factors (regular human feeding and humans raising the local sea temperature by dumping warm water from the desalination plant).
The point is that at every step of the way, these sharks are acting in a very strange way (for them) as a direct result of human action. We’ve seen this kind of thing before when people feed wild animals, strange and dangerous human seeking behaviors develop: alligators, bears, moose, etc. Dangerous animals? Yes, but the behaviors that result in human deaths are in no way natural.
I use the word pardon because there are lots of local Spanish speakers, tourist/seasonal French Canadian speakers, and occasionally tourists from farther abroad around and I’d rather be understood than pretend everyone speaks English. When speaking to strangers, like when I’m asking forgiveness for being an inconvience to them or trying to politely get someone’s attention, preferring loan words that really don’t need translation in order to be understood just seems like good citizenship and also more kind.

That’s not how TV in the 80s and 90s worked. Most of the TV we watched as kids in the 80s would have been reruns of things in syndication. Millenials born in 82 would have grown up watching reruns of Cheers for their entire childhood and likely have memories of watching even some of the later episodes live.
Either way, you can put passengers in the back of an SUV, but not in the bed of a truck (without breaking laws or being totally unsafe).
I fully agree. Crisps/chips are also great with chopsticks, no more flavor fingers.
But this is probably more an unpopular opinion in the west than a shower thought. It shouldn’t be unpopular, but just look at the other comments. Clearly not a lot of chopstick users. And I kind of doubt anyone that claims a salad can or should be shovelled.
