There is precedent for an import economy for California - we already are an effective energy bubble (importing the majority of our oil from tankers) due to our geographical separation from the rest of the US.
That being said, I would place my money on our population centers using their economic power to “convince” the farming parts of California to stick around.
A union with Oregon and Washington state would be nice too (us west coasters should work together)
GOG/Steam sales is what you are looking for, or getting some good “personal backups” of games to run in an emulator. You can upscale and enhance them better than they ever were on original hardware.
Also, we don’t have to pay for online, and never will :)
Lol wut? All of the Yakuza games are cracked at this point and have plenty of “distribution sources” out there, and the PS5 requires an internet connection to even use the disc drive. Don’t forget about disc rot and day 1 patches either!

They allow you to install whatever you like on their hardware. This is the same case with the steam deck - the bootloader is accessible with a button combination.
So if you don’t like steamOS, you can just install another OS from a USB device before the first login screen.
To be honest it’s just a personal preference. You’ll have access to the same posts and comments either way.
I deleted my google account and moved all of my youtube activity onto Grayjay (since it doesn’t require any account and any saved “subscriptions” are stored on your device locally), maybe that could be an option for you? They even have a desktop client now :)
Honestly, even as an American (from California - a rare state of sanity in this damn country), I’ve been moving to de-google and move away from stuff like reddit for months now at this point. Especially since user data requests by our federal government (and likely other world governments) are an open secret that these companies can’t really refuse.

This is true all over the world, I think. At least that’s what my LATAM and AU/NZ friends tell me, and where I live, in the US, buying used laptops from a business liquidation is always better than the ewaste sold at the same price new.
I could probably lend a hand if need be - I already have experience with interstate and international shipments since I had to send repaired devices and surplus parts to clients I worked with.

There’s nuance for sure (guess I should have worded the root comment better), but I’m referring to activities involving fake/generated content, conspiracy theories, or things like dismissing science or verified historical events.
Anything that allows distributed hosting without any central accountability will inevitably have right-wing content uploaded - we have this problem in the fediverse as well. I think the best solution is to create an instance within these platforms that can stick within a certain niche to build trustworthyness (ie: an instance solely dedicated to news footage/documentaries).
Think of this like a Wikimedia-esque entity but just for a single peertube/Odyseey group (that would allow distributed cloning ala piratebay/annas archive)
Wouldn’t just a peertube instance dedicated to a particular purpose (say for academic purposes or just for documentary archives) be sufficient, with allowances for the content within to be downloaded/cloned if need be, but the root instance having a dedicated admin(s) with rules on quality control and making sure appropriate content is updated? (Not in terms of political spectrum, but making sure uploaded content is not fabricated and relevant to the instance’s purpose)

Factory built firearms I can believe, but I don’t believe that the populace would be incapable of constructing their own, nor would be unwilling to if push came to shove.
It is a modern phenomenon, but there is no effective way to fully disarm a population without vetting and restricting the imports and purchases within the entire economy (including the internet/communications infrastructure), which I’d imagine the UK doesn’t want to do.
