Like I said, I treat it as a luxury. I buy from a local artisan, it gets expensive so I don’t eat a whole lot. Flavour is fantastic and I know it’s not from slavery, so that’s all that matters to me.

I don’t judge anyone for choosing Lindt. I just personally can’t.

I wouldn’t call it shit, but it’s very overpriced. It’s like luxury brands like Gucci and what have you, you’re paying for the brand and the quality isn’t necessarily better. I’m no connoisseur or anything, but I’ve had some really good high quality chocolate a few times, and the depth in flavour you get is just something Lindt doesn’t have.

With cacao harvests suffering due to global warming, and the working conditions generally being shit (slave labour, even) my approach is to treat chocolate like the luxury it is; splurge on it on occasion, get something from a reputable seller, if there’s an artisanal chocolatier locally you can support local business and have a better idea of where the ingredients are from.

Lindt isn’t that good. They market themselves as premium but they kind of fail from a flavour perspective. Completely flat and uninteresting.

I think they’re saying to get rid of it. No one would complain.

Or maybe a parliament with proper representation instead of this stupid system you’ve got going right now.

That was my thinking back in 2016. I was astonished when I woke up to the news because how could he be elected in favour of her? It makes no sense.

The U.S. has a history of fucking around even among “allies” to them so I fully believe that they could invade us.

Further, like, as a third party I can’t really consent. Say I’m out on a walk and I pass a Tesla, or that Tesla drives by me. It has a bunch of cameras, it’s recording a bunch of shit. I as a passerby have no ability to consent or decline being recorded just going about my business.

I fucking hate that. Every time I see a modern car I’m grossed out because I feel like I’m being watched.

Freebies? Like, freeloaders? Like all of the people who don’t get healthcare or medicine in the U.S. so they cross the border to get it from Canada?

Honestly this was always idiotic to begin with. European car lobby was whining that Chinese green and renewable tech is too high quality and we can’t compete. Fucking invest more into green and renewable tech, you know, just like China did to end up in the lead.

I’d be okay with the rest of the world freezing out the U.S. No one needs them anyway.

Again, be the difference. I harass companies over mail because I don’t want to fucking use Discord to get project or order status updates.

This just pointedly isn’t true. There are good alternatives, there’s just not a single drop-in replacement for the role that Discord fills.

For the most obvious drop-in replacement, you have Stoat, previously called Revolt. It’s basically Discord but self-hosted. For text and voice chat you have things like Matrix or Signal, both having the added bonus of being end-to-end encrypted so your shit is private. There’s also the old-school options like Mumble and IRC.

For forums there’s Discourse, or if you want to go traditional phpbb is still around.

The big problem is that not all your friends are gathered on a single platform. This was always the case before Discord, and will be the case again after Discord. Be the change. Encourage people to switch away, and move your communities. Prune those that you don’t need any more.

Honestly it’s not Trump. It’s the U.S. If Trump wasn’t president the U.S. would be up to the same bullshit just more quietly.

That’s exactly the case. Trump is just doing in the open what the U.S. has always been doing. “Returning to normal” ultimately doesn’t change anything.

Denmark has a long-standing tradition of brown-nosing the U.S, and in the past they’ve happily spied on other European members for the sake of the U.S.

Klarna is pretty established now from what I understand, and they’re Swedish. That said, if a bank transfer is possible I’d go with that. Klarna is a terrible company, and the founder is as evil as you’d expect.

They’re so engrained here in Sweden that even when you choose other means of payment, it’s often funneled through Klarna. Had a problem with my dog’s food subscription at one point and was directed to Klarna, which puzzled me because I set up the payment thing via my bank. Turns out Klarna had basically been picked to deal with all payment related things, so unless you physically go to the store and pay there, you can’t avoid them.
