They own the means of production. They seek to profit from it entirely. They fight tooth and nail to not be taxed for anything whatsoever. In what universe would they “give” us anything? If our current system demands 80 hours of work/week to afford to live a normal life then the world of AI will still demand that 80 hours of work/week, but now with new and improved Less Jobs!™©®
The future will not be a utopia. I’m thinking more cyberpunk with less technology. A lot of extremely poor people and a few megacorps.
I’m not seeking to justify their actions, but explain why the change seems to have happened around that time. I’m not convinced it’s totally on gen X to have that sudden change, but more that the entire population was affected by the explosion of propaganda

Other things that have changed in the same time frame is the explosive growth of Reich wing broadcasting. Rush Limbaugh and the like coming to reach millions of people and then the birth of fox news. That has made things much worse in the last 40ish years

They’d rather start a new company to make more money that just films nation wide “bum fights” as they treat us as entertainment, fighting over a chance to eat, than they would give anything for a UBI.
I believe BMW and others are already operating humanoid robots that work in a factory setting doing tasks a typical machinist would do right now.
Just imagine in 10+ years when the frontier agent models get optimized enough, or more effectively streamed into the robotics and the robotics are robust enough to handle “heavy lifting” tasks. I don’t think there is much some combination of AI and robotics can’t do. Other than suffering the soon to come mass poverty… They’ll never be able to do that.

Roars are very annoying, but I do like that you can build around that with earplugs. I always hate how perfectly timed the roars seem… Like I just needed .005 of a frame to finish and they get the roar off…
I used to love them, like tons and tons of hours in elden ring, but I reached a point now where I don’t want to play anything that makes me that angry. I’d be absolutely malding but determined to beat whatever was there and happy when I did, but now I just don’t feel like having that experience anymore.
Monster Hunter is pretty much as far as I’d go with “difficult” fights now.
