@Multiplexer@discuss.tchncs.de @donuts@lemmy.world @AtariDump@lemmy.world here’s the promised non-paywalled version for you.
Thanks!
Sorry, I already moved on.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Having lived in US (NJ, great weather for biking!) and NL (that I left partially because the weather was too depressing) - yep, weather doesn’t mean shit when choosing transportation modes
Bad weather doesn’t exist, only bad clothing. It’s about perspective, I have come to believe.
Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlig klær.
Good to learn yet another version of the same saying and how most countries agree…
Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung.
usually followed by
Du bist doch nicht aus Zucker.
Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung.
But the Norsk saying is rhyming.
Dat is niet bijzonder, in het Nederlands rijmt het ook:
Er is geen slecht weer, alleen slechte kleren.
In short term, I agree. So deciding transportation falls in that category. On long term, constant get and rain does impact your mood. After years of getting worse and worse seasonal depression I just gave up and moved to literally sunnier lands
People can of course have a preference of weather/temperature, however, the ‘bad’ weather in the Netherlands is often exaggerated.
And I have called rain ‘bad weather’ as well, but it took a change in perspective to see that rain is neither good nor bad (it is just a logical consequence of our ecosystem). I now enjoy the occasional rain shower or overcast days.
