Bending Spoons is an Italian company 🇮🇹
this is not a good thing. Bending spoons is where services go to die. Their playbook is: First lay of absolutely everyone you can, then maximize monetization until you’ve bled the stone dry, then move on to the next service.
Sad to see them gobble up Vimeo
Vimeo is already dead. You can’t watch videos on it without an account, unless the video has been labelled as being suitable for everyone, which means any old videos uploaded to vimeo are now unwatchable. I’m not signing up an account to use Vimeo.
When you visit their website it just advertises their video hosting products. There’s no way to actually search for and watch videos.
I agree with the layoffs and maximizing monetization. But I think so far they haven’t actively killed any of their purchased products. It is in their financial interest to keep things running as long as possible to get their return on investment.
Bending spoons is one of the European companies that most resembles the worst parts of american capitalism. No reason to cheer them on, just like Nestle, or Shell, etc.
Bending Spoons is an Italian comnglomerate founded in 2013 in Milan, owners of Evernote, Komoot and WeTransfer. It is also known for developing the Immuni COVID-19 tracking app, that failed spectacurlarly due to major technical issues.
No, I think that contact tracing apps did not fail due to that, but due to them being turned off.
Source: look at my instance
So, I don’t particularly like bending spoons, but I don’t blame for Immuni (the Italian contact tracing apps did)
