What alternatives? They are cheaper and more sustainable than any other automobile. They are still worse than walking, biking, and taking public transit - but those are not always options. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough. (which isn’t to say don’t work for better public transit)

You ask for alternatives and then provide then? Then you say that when there are no better options then EV’s are the best option which doesn’t put them in a great light at all.

I think mining the rare metals needed to manufacture lithium batteries to create luxury SUVs and Sedans that’ll transport one person at a time is a gross waste of the earth’s resources and it’s bullshit to call that sustainable.

For 1% of people you’re right, they’ll have the desire and fortitude to compromise their lifestyle for not owning their own vehicle.

For the other 99%, moving them away from buying an ice car to an EV car has to be considered an improvement.

I gave up my car for an electric moped, I don’t regret it but do suffer in the winter. I’d likely say most people would consider me someone who “needs” a car but I’m making do

That doesn’t really matter, since 8 out of 5 people suffer from dyscalculia.

Hah, fair point. Just my opinion, a high percentage of people in this world will not inconvenience themselves by transitioning to a less than ideal transport solution for the the good of the planet.

            Hope that’s more suitably vague
