I find the word apt to describe people that are fully capable of being properly functional, good people, but choose to listen to vapid, hateful talking heads instead of seeking sanity or empathy. They shouldn’t be as underdeveloped/stunted as children, but they are. Hence, re-tarded. It is quite literally appropriate, IMO, regardless of what other confused liberals clutching their pearls think.
