I was just reading about a violation of the Canadian fisheries act that has a maximum penalty of $200k, and realized the absurdity of there ever being a maximum fine.

There should be no maximum fine on any corporate penalty given that we do not cap the size of corporations or their bank accounts.

It would be like having maximum jail terms of 25 years for immortal beings that can live to 10,000.

We need to be careful how we allocate power. A judge having the power to single-handedly take down a business is too much.

Power corrupts. Corrupt actions by the powerful you agree with today, can be turned against you tomorrow.

      A) a single judge doesn’t, that’s why appeals courts exist.

      B) no it’s fucking not.

If a judge can have the power to take a human beings life (through execution or through years of their life in prison), then they certainly can have the power to end a corporation.

Give your head a shake bud.
