After a bitter rift with Donald Trump left many in Ukraine fearing that the US president had swung behind Russia again, President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the dispute head on: there’s nothing personal between me and Trump, he told CNN, but cozying up to Vladimir Putin would only “make him stronger.”
Ties between the US and Ukraine have badly deteriorated in recent weeks.
Zelensky said Trump was “on the wrong side of history” after he announced a deal to buy Russian fuel, upending international efforts to isolate Russia. Trump then waived some sanctions against Russia, drawing criticism even from his own party. Ukraine’s forces found their access to the Elon Musk-run Starlink service restricted.
Speaking to CNN from Kyiv on Thursday, Zelensky took a conciliatory tone, saying the tensions were “not about personalities” – but warned that Putin had no intention of stopping the war.

Don’t worry, I blame all US genocides in history on the current US as well. You don’t get to change leaders and suddenly be absolved of your history. I noticed you conveniently ignoring all the modern day examples. No surprise there.
I never said a word about the opposition parties in Russia. Not sure why you are bringing this up, but perhaps it is a topic you are more comfortable with rather than confronting the mass slaughter of your countrymen, brothers, and sisters over Kremlin lies. It is clear you don’t care about human life at all.
Because I know what’s happening on the other side of the world, that means I must live there?
Are the Russians in the room with you right now?
Listen, you don’t care about human life. I do. That is the difference between us. Everything else is just a smokescreen and I am tired of choking on your shit.
That’s right. I’m “Russian”, and they don’t feel things like normal people. Right?
I absolutely love the Russian people. Their government, not so much.
And when the Russian people overwhelmingly support their government? They’re “voting wrong”, right?
