U.S. Ambassador to the EU Andrew Puzder told the Financial Times that European companies would face “devastating” retaliation from Washington if Brussels moves forward with plans to restrict American competitors’ access to parts of the European market.
Sounds like someone would cut access to the internet. 🤭
Europeans would go back to watching TVs, reading books and more paper work. Longer term, Europe might win with learning through overcoming the obstacles.
Also, the internet already becomes less welcoming with surveillance and media addictions. It’s hollow the more time we spend in it.
You cannot cut access to the internet to the entire continent. It’s decentralised. You could cut access to AWS, Google cloud and Azure and several other US services. That would: 1. Immensely cripple all websites and services using it but would also cost those corporations a lot of income, would destroy their position on the market, European and Asian alternatives exist. It would be difficult but European and mostly Chinese providers would benefit in the long term.
They can also cut access to Facebook, Xitter and Instagram. Please do that.
True, alternatives exist and we work towards more independence. It takes time.
I like your idea of the daily life without these major social medias.
Cutting those lynchpins would be stupid, agreed, and no matter how asinine this “gov’t” has been for years, it’s far more likely that they’ll do that and allow paid access for companies, etc., no doubt.
Americans have already ruined the internet, now it’s all bots, and monetization. The search engines are terrible now, all the social media platforms are terrible, they could cut it tomorrow and yes the world would increase intelligence ten fold over the Americans overnight.
You want to see just how ignorant they are? Watch “The good Liars” funny and heart breaking to see just how stupid Americans can be.
Yeah, it feels like everything has a price tag. The user pays with money or private data or both. What once seemed exciting and uniting (social medias, for example), now becomes a currated cash grab mess. This period is interesting as well. It’s like we enter the period of hangover when it comes to the digital life with privacy and open source movements getting more recognition.
We don’t “pay” in private data. We are the product. ☝🏼
Hey, product. Hey hey hey, product. Oh wait… we’re both products in the vast network void. 🤭
Sounds like what a proverbial frog would say to its stewpot-mates. 😅🥵🫠
