You know, the “just buy a work van” is such a straw man argument. People can’t afford to own two vehicles, and they sure as shit don’t want to try driving around a work van with shitty suspension as a daily driver. Pull up to dinner in something that looks like it should say “Free Candy” on the side.

While I don’t disagree that many people drive trucks that have no reason to be driving them (looking at Dodge Ram owners with flags flying off the back of them) believe or not some people can only afford to own one vehicle and want something that works for them and is comfortable.

If I didn’t have the job I did, believe me, I wouldn’t be driving something that only gets 17 mpg. Got sent out of town and the rental place hooked me up with a Dodge Charger. Holy crap I forgot what it was like to not have to swing out to make a U-turn and not have trouble finding a parking space. Only problem is, you can’t throw a ladder and a pack out in the back of a car, and you can’t pull a 7500 lb scissor lift on a trailer when you need to.

Just because you’d be embarrassed to drive one because of your ego doesn’t stop a van from being the best, safest option.

Lol, no. Two seater, shitty suspension, loud af. I take company vans on occasion when needed and one is available, but yeah you try driving one daily. Ain’t great. Also really don’t like having to unload and move everything from one vehicle to another.

Your perspective makes it clear you’ve never had a job that required you to lug around a shit ton of tools and materials.

You’re putting everyone around you in danger with your massive truck. You may have excuses but that’s undeniable. I work in construction and when I need to haul materials I use a 2003 Dodge Grand caravan, it fits more than my bosses GMC while being more efficient, much safer for pediatricians, and being a tenth of the price. Your brain has been poisoned by American automakers propaganda. I hope you recover some day.

Lol you assume I drive an oversized truck. I like being able to fit in parking garages.

I guess you drive that Dodge Caravan in addition to your EV? must be nice to be able to afford so many vehicles. Shit even planning to get a “weekend” Miata. Wish I had that kind of money.

Edit: damn dude, you comment A LOT on posts about cars. This single comment thread is probably the most I’ve ever talked about them. You sure you don’t got car-brain?

I wish my company would buy some more vehicles, but they won’t. Truck’s having issues so I borrowed a shop truck, and only had it a couple days before they were like “when you brining it back? We need it.” Like dude I need it.

Believe me, I’ve been looking to downsize, but man I emptied my truck out and couldn’t believe the amount of crap I haul around. Ladder, couple pack out boxes with tools, safety equipment, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a medicine cabinet worth of drugs, hand warmers, electrolytes, cooler of waters, tech bag, tool bag, blanket, travel pillow, tow hitch, tie downs , hi-vis tie downs, tow strap, netting, measure wheel, push rods, foldable camp table with collapsible chair (fits a laptop, it’s very compact)… Personally I prefer to be over prepared rather than underprepared cause as usual you take something out to make room and that’s the day you need it.

Trying to downsize from a full size truck to a mid size for better gas mileage. I can definitely carry less, but it’ll be tight. Just wish they made more EV trucks. Rivian is great, but I sure as hell can’t afford that.
