Hungary has given the green light to opening negotiation clusters 2 and 3 on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Can they legally join mid war? I thought EU had a defense clause. Not opposing, just asking
this is about the start of the beginning, not the finish
Hungarian here. I fully support this movement, however for some context, the upkept veto had a valid reason (not from Orban, he can perish in the cells).
Some years prior the war Ukraine took away significant minority language rights from everyone, like not having schools, exams in hungarian and others anymore.
EU membership surely would have with minority rights, so I don’t see the point in blocking.
Hopefully this move will help Hungary and Ukraine work on their issues together!
To be honest I didn’t think the new Magyar gov had it in them. Hats off to them, things really are changing.
Aaah finally
Europe must support the defender of European democracy financially.
