Diplomatic relations between Japan and China have been at rock bottom since Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi suggested in November that Tokyo may intervene in any attack on the island of Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its territory.
Immigration requires literally just got harder this year. Everything got more expensive and the requirements increased. Last/this year (I forget which because calendar vs fiscal years and such), they also changed the rules around buying property. Allegedly, this is mostly in response to Chinese buyers, though I don’t know that there’s any way to prove this.
