Tbf I only worked with the one guy, so maybe my experience was the exception. Worked with plenty of Germans though, and they don’t seem to do this. Though the Swiss have many other linguistic influences obviously, so I wonder where they get it from.
I am German, so I may also have a different experience, based on the common base language the Swiss and I are speaking.
Schwytzerdütsch seems to posses a tendency to use long vowels, and this also bleeds into Swiss people speaking “normal” German, which gives a very distinct stretched kind of pronunciation.
This might have caused part of the stereotype.
Might be that they are additionally often speaking extra slow on purpose when speaking German to a German, so that we have a better chance to understand what they are saying.
