South African police on Saturday found another body in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, bringing to 10 the number of women found dead in the municipality over the past two months
Hasn’t this always been a problem in South Africa? Why is it just these 10 in the last 2 months that are gaining attention? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that they’re finally bringing some attention to the matter. I just know that there have been tons of documentaries over the last 20 years about women going missing or being killed like this and nothing has changed.

The amount of femicide in South Africa is stunning. I only wish this had more attention long, long ago.

My overall question was, why is it that the 10 women from these past two months are what’s finally giving it some global attention when it’s been going on for years?
