I mean I’m doing it for my own self-benefit too lol, but it helps others who discover to the artist after me! But damn does it take a lot of time 😅
I used to collect CDs and adding them to Discogs was hell. Hated the work, but it was fun diving into obscure releases. Now I buy most of my music on Bandcamp and adding it to Musicbrainz is a breeze, especially with the website plugins.

What. Does Musicbrainz have plugins to make importing/adding a release from Bandcamp easier? If so I would gladly appreciate a link to said plugins. Or are you talking about musicbrainz picard to make tagging your downloaded music easier? I do love and frequently use Picard for my library.
Yes, I guess they’re called user scripts, but using tamper monkey or similar, you can add buttons to for instance Bandcamp or Discogs to auto fill info on Musicbrainz. Absolutely brilliant.

I just started the project of sanitizing a lot of the metadata in my music library and adding musicbrainz ID’s. Adding new releases for obscure artists is no joke, especially when their online presence is almost nonexistent.
I’ve also been doing a bit of this on and off over the past couple of years.
The number of discs I’ve got from early band gigs with a nonexistent track listing is getting frustrating. Happy to spend the time working it out from other recordings though
