The triumph of Die Linke in Berlin connects with the victory of Zohran Mamdani in New York: housing, youth support, and a promise of more affordable cities. But Elif Eralp still has to conquer what the American obtained at the polls: the power to govern.
They’ve governed before. They still don’t have a majority so they will have to do another coalition with social democrats and greens like they have in the past. Although this time Die Linke has a much bigger share so hopefully they can get their way and set the tone. It’s not yet clear if Eralp will be elected mayor either afaik
