One of the things the AfD keeps going on about is that Germans should step out of that shame etc. They haven’t completely forgotten, but they certainly want to.
Maybe not those in power or seeking it, but the younger generation lacks a firm understanding of the atrocities of WW2 and the rise to power of those that committed them.
Isn’t the place they won in was a former East-German state. If my former ex-communist state is anything to come by, I guess that way too many history teachers taught that the nazis were evil for evil sake, and didn’t had stuff like blaming economic distress on the Jewish population. Still remember a certain history teacher asking us “Why the Jews for no good reason?”, all while she was an anti-Roma racist.
Those who forget the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.
Judging by all the sieg heil responses to the win on German social media, they are enthusiastically repeating it eyes wide open.

You misunderstand the subtext: It’s not “Let’s move on” it is “Don’t be ashamed of what happened”.
Just like the US and their stance on slavery and genocide on the natives.
